A Polytechnic Don, Seasoned Educationist and Administrator

Dr. Abayomi Oluwatosin Jiboku (B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D., D.D., D.C.T., F.C.S.N, F.I.I.C.A, F.C.I.M, JP), was born on July 26th, 1950 and hails from Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun state.

A Polytechnic Don, seasoned Educationist and Administrator, Founder and Proprietor of Taidob College, Asero Estate, Abeokuta. Chairman, Dr Abayomi Oluwatosin Jiboku Foundation, Fellow of the Chemical Society of Nigeria, Fellow, Institute of Industrialists and Corporate Administrators, Fellow Certified Institute of Management, Fellow, Institute of Data Processing Management of Nigeria, Distinguished Fellow, of the Chartered Institute of Public Resources Management and Politics, Ghana. A Paul Harris Fellow, Rotary Club of Nigeria, and Ex-President, National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) Ogun State.


Dr. Jiboku’s enviable academic career dates back to 1956 when he started his Primary education at St. James African Church Primary School, Idi-Ape, Abeokuta, which he completed with good grades in 1962. His good performance took him further to secondary education which he had between 1964 and 1968 at African Church Grammar School, Ita-Iyalode also in Abeokuta.

Dr. Jiboku’s thirst for education was so high, and this impetus propelled him higher to Ijebu Ode Grammar School where he studied for his ‘A’ level programme in 1969, after which he opted for preliminary programme at University of Lagos. Between 1969 and 1974, Dr. Jiboku was a student of University of Lagos, where he studied Chemistry. He bagged a special Honors Degree (B. Sc. Hons.) in Chemistry in 1974. Ever ambitious as before, he forged ahead in his academic career by obtaining a Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1976.

Dr. Jiboku’s determination for perfection and professionalism in his chosen field of Chemistry motivated him to obtain another Master’s Degree in Physical Chemistry from University of Ibadan in 1983. As a model academician, Dr Jiboku bagged a Doctorate Degree (Ph.D) in Chemistry from his Alma mater, University of Lagos between 1983 and 1987.

Dr. Yomi Jiboku has presented a sizable number of academic and professional papers at many of the Local and International Workshops/Conferences he had attended. He attended a practical methodology course organized by Embassy CES Cambridge in the United Kingdom between 29th July and 9th August, 2002. As a determined and celebrated academia, Dr. Abayomi Jiboku proceeded to Washington Academy in the United States of America, where he obtained Diploma in Applied Computer Technology in April 2003.


Dr. Jiboku’s dream to impart knowledge blossomed into reality when he started his teaching career at Government Secondary School, Malufanshi and Saminaka in the then Kaduna State, during his National Youth Service program in 1976.

In 1976, he joined the Advanced Teachers College, a division of Ahmadu Bello University, Kano as an Assistant Lecturer. He was there till March 1977. In April 1977, he joined the Ogun State Polytechnic as Lecturer II. He lectured there in various capacities and rose to the position of Principal Lecturer before his voluntary retirement in 2002.


Dr. Yomi Jiboku was, upon the recognition of his contributions toward educational standard in Ogun State, appointed Director General of Bureau of Lands, Survey and Town Planning by the then government in 1993, headed by Chief Olusegun Osoba. He invested his vast and unique experience that brought about positive changes in the system. However, his administration was interrupted by Military intervention in 1994, when he left the Ministry.

As a proof of his administrative acumen as Director General of Lands, he was further appointed the Sole Administrator of Ifo Local Government in Ogun State. He held that position creditably well and the Local government was radically transformed during his administration. He left the office after the completion of Local Government election, which ushered in the newly elected chairman.

Dr. Jiboku is the Proprietor and member, Governing Board of Taidob College, Asero Estate, Abeokuta. A government approved Private Secondary School and a product of Dr. Jiboku’s vision to render life transforming services to humanity, irrespective of sex, tribe or race! He was the former President, National Association of Proprietor of Private Schools (NAPPS) Ogun State. A position he held and left monumental transformation in the educational sector of the State.

Dr. Abayomi Jiboku is also the Chief Executive Officer of Dr. Abayomi Oluwatosin Jiboku Foundation (AOJF), Abeokuta, Ogun State; a foundation born out of his passion for service to humanity. The foundation has, from inception till date, awarded several numbers of scholarships to undergraduate students in Colleges, Polytechnics and Universities across Nigeria.
